Welcome to the 'Safety Icons" page. This is a brand new way of
thinking about employee education.
Basically, I have boiled down all of the most important points of
common safety policies and points of hazard recognition into simple,
easy to understand, multilingual and memorable icons. View the icons
below and see if you agree. I then created a 'Safety Icon Legend' in
'Microsoft Word' format so that it can be inserted into any document.
This legend gives definitions to each icon. Definitions are
customizable. This is a training system I registered as "Safety Icon
Hazard Recognition Training System". You can see below how the
system works.

your mouse on top of the icon to see the definition for the Icon.
The Safety Icon Albums display high quality images so they may
take some time to download. It will be worth the wait.
How to Use the Safety Icons

Operating Procedures, Safety Iconswithout showing them gory pictures. This
is just enough of a reminder to raise without showing them gory pictures. This
is just enough of a reminder to raise awareness without morbid fixation. Using
the JHA book as a daily tailgate safety meeting will serve as a better, more
meaningful safety tool than just words. words.
The Safety Icons can be integrated into all company safety policies, procedures
and training programs including new employee orientation (depending upon
licensing purchase).
Integration
JRA/JHA/JSA
Safety Manual
Working backwards - adding the Safety Icons to your existing Safety
Manual/Policies will reinforce what employees learned in initial training and at
JHA meetings. The definitions will provide much more meaning since the
Safety Icons serve as "memory keys".
Training Programs with the Safety Icons built in will provide instant recognition
of these important safety issues. Keying the tests with the Safety Icons that are
adjacent to related issues within the training program(s) provide structure that
aids the employee greatly in retaining that knowledge.

Geared for Success
Using graphics to build knowledge is not a new concept. The video game
industry overcomes very difficult learning curves by the use of stunning
graphics. If you consider the fact that millions of people play computer and
video games and estimates that the gaming industry is a $5 Billion dollar
industry, you should be asking "what draws people to these games?". The
answer is the graphics! Industry should follow this trend if you truly want your
safety program to be a success!

Multilingual - Bridging the Gap
GraphicSafety.com believes in the use of graphics to overcome language
barriers. That is why we have developed workbooks and a website that is/are
highly graphical. We have seen a lot of success in safety efforts with our
products. It is now time to take it to the next level through the use of the Safety
Icons. One distinct advantage is the Safety Icon Legend which can easily be
translated into languages other than the main language spoken in your
workplace. The legend is just four pages. You can then build these into your
'Employee Handbook' or just laminate the pages and give to new employees.
Understanding of safety issues will take a leap forward. This is real progress!
Examples
On the left is an example of the Safety Icon
Legend showing the definitions. The Safety
Icons are numbered so that when a JSA is
written on location, the number of the most
applicable Safety Icon can be added in at the
appropriate place. Subject to review, when the
handwritten JSA is typed up, the Safety Icon
can be copied from the Legend and pasted
into the JSA.as shown in the example JSA
below.
